Solemn Tribute to 163 Companies
At a solemn ceremony attended by H.R.H. the Hereditary Grand Duke and the Minister of the Economy, SMEs, Energy and Tourism, Lex Delles, 163 Luxembourg companies were awarded the “Made in Luxembourg” label this Wednesday. The occasion also marked another celebration: the 40th anniversary of the label, with the award ceremony taking place at the Cercle Cité.

After an opening speech by Lex Delles titled “Forty Years of Luxembourg Know-How: A Commitment to the Future,” a roundtable discussion brought together Fernand Ernster (President of the Chamber of Commerce) and Tom Oberweis (President of the Chamber of Skilled Trades). They discussed “The Impact of the ‘Made in Luxembourg’ Label: Past, Present, and Future.” During the discussion, Tom Oberweis expressed his pride in the label’s 40-year history and emphasized the high level of recognition it enjoys among consumers. Fernand Ernster stated that the label gives Luxembourg companies a competitive edge against both national and international competitors.
Another highlight of the event was a keynote by Luc de Brabandere on “Brand Strategy and the Art of Thinking in the Digital Age,” where he highlighted the importance of creativity and new thinking approaches in brand management during the digital era. Following this, H.R.H. the Hereditary Grand Duke, Minister Lex Delles, along with the presidents and directors of the Chamber of Commerce and the Chamber of Skilled Trades, jointly presented the labels to the newly certified companies.

Four Decades of Sustainability and Regional Identity
The “Made in Luxembourg” label was created in 1984 as an initiative by the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, the Chamber of Commerce, and the Chamber of Skilled Trades. It serves to emphasize the local origin of products and services and enables companies to promote their Luxembourgish expertise both domestically and internationally. To date, more than 1,800 companies have been authorized to use the label. With this recent recognition, 163 more companies join that list.
The Label’s Importance to Businesses
The “Made in Luxembourg” label enhances the local origin of certified companies’ products and services. It boosts consumer confidence and can help increase the competitiveness of companies on both national and international levels. Companies across various sectors—from craftsmanship to industry to commerce—have obtained the label and use it to distinguish their offerings.

Support from the Grand Ducal Family
The Grand Ducal family plays a vital role in promoting and supporting local initiatives and events. The presence of H.R.H. the Hereditary Grand Duke at the “Made in Luxembourg” award ceremony underscores the importance of this distinction for the country and its economy. The Court regularly engages in cultural and economic events to promote Luxembourg’s identity and heritage.
